Off-Base: Tiger Woods Farts on the Fairway

Tiger Woods decides to let off a little, uh, steam on the 18th fairway during the final round of the 2009 Buick Open. The victory would be Tiger’s 69th tour victory.

From what I can tell by the numerous versions appearing throughout the net (including the original broadcast), this is real.  And funny. Listen to Tiger’s laugh afterward. It could be Tiger’s caddy, Steve Williams, who yelled “fore!” from the backside as Tiger’s laugh may be more surprise than pride.

Tiger does, however, lift his leg at the time of the fart and precedes it with a whole dance probably designed to camouflage the upcoming toot. It’s classic planning on Tiger’s part but, in the end, ineffective. I think we can safely say that Tiger tore ass on the fairway.

UPDATE 12:20 PM The PGA pulled the video I had embedded off of YouTube. It was an HD feed so technically, they do own the rights to the footage, but still. You’re golfers. Have a sense of humor.

Upon further review, I don’t think Tiger dealt it. Both he and his caddy look off to the side laughing instead of at each other, which would seem to be the natural reaction. Also, on the broadcast audio, the fart itself is quite loud and audible, but Tiger’s laugh is much further away, leading me to believe the noise came from the sidelines and closer to the mic.
