I don’t know why you would NOT want Montero to develop. If he’s even decent defensively, his bat is a huge asset at catcher. Getting that level of offense at the catcher’s position is irreplacable.

He is not a well built catcher. I don't like Jesus Montero though because of course he has a great bat, but the yankees are set with all superstar bats in 7 parts of their linup, there is no need for Montero. Austin Romine I feel is the best of the bunch being a stellar fielder and a decent hitter. Overall I think Francisco Cervelli will be the Yankees future catcher or at least an amazing backup.
