Minors Report for 6/10/10: Dellin Betances Returns
Minor Leagues Report — By Tom K on June 11, 2010 1:09 pmTampa:
Dellin Betances finally stood foot on a baseball mound tonight, and
pitched extremely well in a victory.
Betances (22) went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. He walked
nobody and struck out 6.
Betances is one of the biggest prospects in the organization (talent
wise and size was) when he is healthy – this was his first start since
coming off of Tommy John surgery.
At the plate, Melky Mesa went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk while
Jose Pirela went 2-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBI in the win.

Scranton:
Ivan Nova pitched 6.2 strong innings to help Scranton to a victory.
Nova, who I think may be #1 on the callup list, allowed 7 hits while
walking 2 and striking out 3. He is 4-2 with a 3.71 ERA (63 IP, 68
H, 23 BB, 48 K, 5 HR).
Eduardo Nunez went 2-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored, while Juan
Miranda went 2-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBI. Would have been nice
to have him around for PH duties in the 9th tonight.
Jesus Montero went 1-for-5 and has one hit in each of his last 3
games. Hey, it’s something.

Trenton:
Brandon Laird went 1-for-5 with a home run (12) and 3 RBI in a 9-7
victory. Laird is at .307/.352/.541 on the season with 55 RBI. He
is at .302/.333/.605 in his last ten games. He’s been a hitting
machine.
Austin Romine has been slumping a bit, contributing a 1-for-5 night
tonight. He is still at .304/.366/.446, but only 5-for-his-last 28.
Jorge Vazquez had 2 more hits and is now hitting .441 since coming
back from injury, while Austin Krum went 2-for-5 with a run scored and
an RBI (.272/.365/.319, 11-for-16 sb)
Ryan Pope continued his hot bullpen pitching, earning the victory. He
went 2.2 innings, allowing 2 hits while striking out 2. In 7 games
out of the pen, he has pitched 15.2 innings, allowing 12 hits. He has
walked 2 and struck out 23.

Charleston:
Luke Murton hit his 8th home run of the season in a 9-5 victory.
Murton (24) is at .293/.378/.500 on the season.
Slade Heathcott went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI (.324/.385/.411 in
34 at-bats since being placed on the roster), while Deangelo Mack went
3-for-3 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and 3 RBI. Mack is at .
245/.329/.375. A horrendous May crushed his numbers.
