David Adams Out for Season
Minor Leagues Report — By Tom K on July 30, 2010 11:21 amIf you were wondering how someone can be out for so long with a “sprained ankle”, wonder no longer. Adams has a fractured foot and will miss the remainder of the 2010 season.
Adams only batted 152 times this season, putting up an impressive .309/.393/.507 line. He hit 15 doubles in those 152 at-bats (after hitting 40 in 2009. He obviously has the doubles stroke going).
It will be interesting to see what the Yankees do in 2011, assuming both Adams & Corban Joseph are still in the organization. Joseph has done more than enough in Tampa to earn a promotion to Trenton next season. He is hitting .305/.381/.444 with 27 doubles in 395 at-bats. The 21-year old left-handed hitting second baseman keeps improving by the season.
I think the Yankees will end up moving both up a level next year. They can’t hold back Joseph, so unless they plan a position switch (third base will be open in Trenton as Laird will most definitely be promoted), they need to do some maneuvering.
