Heading to St. Pete

Greetings from thirty-five thousand feet. After a long morning fighting traffic, wandering around the parking lots of LaGuardia airport and wading through security, we’ve finally taken off and are on our way to Florida for the weekend series.

My traveling companion is actually not a Yankee fan but a Tampa Bay Rays fan, if you can believe it. As a matter of fact, you may have seen him sometime during game three of the ALCS between the Rays and Red Sox. Evan Longoria hit a home run over the Monster and the only person in Massachusetts wearing a Rays jersey (with Longo on the back no less) caught the ball. Check the bottom of the page for photographic evidence.

That’s Michael Aguis, my cousin-in-law and die-hard sports fanatic. Michael has been to more championship games across more sports than probably anyone on America. He’s also a Knicks fan so you can sympathize with him a little bit.

So Mike and I are heading south for the weekend to catch the games, maybe hit the links, and hopefully see ARod’s 600th home run. I don’t particularly care about round numbered milestones but given the chance to see it or not see it, why not?

I’m going to be posting random pics to the new Flickr widget on the side of the page as well as posts and hopefully a video log towards the end of each day covering the trip, Tropicana Field, and whatever else pops up. Check back and leave a comment if there’s anything you want us to check out.

Oh, and here’s Michael in his fifteen minutes of fame.
