9/10/10 (Manny Banuelos; Daniel Brewer; Josh Romanski; Preston Claiborne)
Minor Leagues Report — By Tom K on September 10, 2010 8:55 pmScranton:
Ryan Gorecki contributed a hit tonight…..why is that significant? Because it was Scranton’s only hit in a 1-0 loss. (Of course, he was picked off right after he got that hit). The only other baserunner for Scranton in the game was a walk by Kevin Russo.
Kei Igawa actually threw seven shutout innings.
Scranton now trails the best-of-five series, 2-1. ————————————————————————————— Trenton:
Manny Banuelos continues to impress, throwing seven innings of shutout ball as Trenton took a 8-1 decision. After going 6-17 vs. New Hampshire in the regular season, Trenton swept them in Round 1 of the playoffs.
Banuelos allowed five hits, walked three, and sruck out five. Interesting enough, it was the first time Banuelos was credited with a victory this year. During the regular season, he was 0-4 with a 2.51 ERA (64.2 IP, 54 H, 25 BB, 85 K, 3 HR).
Daniel Brewer went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, while Damon Sublett went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run. —————————————————————————————- Tampa:
Josh Romanski threw six strong innings to lead Tampa to a 5-2 victory. Tampa leads the best-of-7 championship series, 1-0, over Charlotte.
Romanski allowed two runs on four hits. He walked nobody and struck out five.
Preston Claiborne threw two scoreless innings in relief, striking out two.
Bradley Suttle went 1-for-4 with a walk, run scored, and two stolen bases while Jose Pirela went 0-for-2, but with three walks, two runs scored, and two stolen bases.
