Minors Report 4/28/11 (Millwood Bombs; Mitchell Impresses; Montero Returns; Slade Heathcott; Ramon Flores)
Scranton: Kevin Millwood hopefully has made his last appearance with the organization. Millwood was absolutely torched tonight, allowing six runs in two innings. Despite a very strong performance by DJ Mitchell, Scranton wasn’t able to overcome the deficit in a 6-3 loss to Charlotte. Mitchell went six shutout innings, allowing four hits while walking two
Minors Report 4/17/11 (Jorge Vazquez; Kevin Millwood; Abraham Almonte; Zolio Almonte; Robert Lylerly; Luke Murton)
Scranton: DJ Mitchell pitched poorly, and the offense wasn’t much better as Scranton took a 6-3 loss to Rochester. The offense was only able to produce four hits in the game. Jorge Vazquez connected for his 6th home run of the season in the loss. He has done that in 40 at-bats (.325/.333/.775; 1 BB/11
Jesus Montero is Cruising; Brackman’s First Start
Scranton: I wonder how long the Yankees will be able to keep Jesus Montero in the minor leagues. It’s only a handful of games, but Montero put up a 3-for-5 night with a pair of doubles, while Jorge Vazquez contributed four hits of his own to go along with two runs batted in as Scranton
Slade Heathcott Goes Deep Twice; Abraham Almonte Goes Yard in 9th
Scranton was rained out tonight. ————————————————- We’ll start off a bit different tonight – we will go to Charleston, where Slade Heathcott matched his entire home run output from 2010. Heathcott went 3-for-4 with two home runs and two runs scored…but it wasn’t enough as Charleston lost to Lexington, 11-7. JR Murphy went 1-for-5 with
Minors Report for 7/20/10 (Montero Goes Deep Twice; Ivan Nova & Hector Noesi Continue to Roll; Melky Mesa)
Scranton: Jesus Montero belted two home runs and drove in three, while Ivan Nova pitched eight impressive innings to lead Scranton to a 6-1 victory. The night improved Montero’s line all the way up to .271/.346/.459. To put it simply, you won’t find many players putting up a line like this in the International League
Minors Report for 7/16/10 (More Jesus Montero; Adam Warren; Austin Romine; Manny Banuelos; Jimmy Paredes 30-30 Club)
Looks like Alan Horne was able to avoid surgery and is once again trying to rehab his way back into the organization. It’s a long shot, but you can’t hope but root for the kid. Scranton: To say Jesus Montero is on fire is actually a bit of an understatement. Montero went 2-for-4 with a
Minors Report for 6/26/10 (Jesus Montero; David Phelps; Zolio Almonte; Melky Mesa; Slade Heathcott; JR Murphy; Cito Culver Milestone)
Scranton: Quite the marathon in Scranton tonight. Jesus Montero went 3-for-6 with a solo home run as Scranton outlasted Rochester, 2-1, in a 13-inning affair. It was Montero’s second consecutive three-hit night and his average is now approaching .250 (.249). Eduardo Nunez went 2-for-5 with a triple in the victory. Nunez is hitting .317 on
Minors Report for 6/22/10 (Zach McAllister; Austin Romine; Dellin Betances; Sally League All-Stars)
Scranton: Zach McAllister pitched a solid game, but still took the loss as Scranton fell, 3-1. McAllister went seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits. He walked two, struck out one, and allowed a home run. McAllister is now 5-5 on the season with a 4.50 ERA (14 starts, 78 IP, 88 H, 19
Minors Report for 6/19/10 (Jesus Montero; Brandon Laird; Austin Romine; Marcos Vechionacci)
Scranton: Wouldn’t it be nice if Jesus Montero is going on a bit of a power surge? Montero went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, while Eduardo Nunez added two hits (including a double) and a run batted in…but it wasn’t enough as Scranton lost, 5-4. Montero’s home run was his fourth of the season,
